How TOWA empowered its leaders to drive effective sustainable transformation.

The Challenge

TOWA International was faced with the challenge of increasing corporate sustainability awareness across several key positions within the company. This was crucial to ensure that leaders understood and could implement sustainable practices in their respective departments.

When it was decided to start the Building Leadership for Sustainable Transformation program, TOWA was at a critical moment, defining and developing its sustainability strategy. Specifically, a Double Materiality analysis was being carried out, identifying and prioritizing the material aspects that impacted both the company and society. This analysis was essential to define a sustainability strategy aligned with stakeholder expectations and market trends. TOWA was aware that several functional areas needed to be involved in the deployment of this strategy.

To select the group of seven people who participated in the program, those involved in the Double Materiality analysis were considered. Their key role in developing the resulting sustainability actions was prioritized, ensuring that participants had the ability to influence the implementation of these strategies within the organization.

The Solution

The solution proposed to TOWA was a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program** that offered training in business sustainability, with a 9-week hybrid format that combined online training with face-to-face sessions. The program not only provided theoretical knowledge, but also practical tools applicable in daily life for skills development.

The main components of the program included:

  • Sustainability fundamentals and new business models.
  • Development of a sustainable transformation plan.
  • Transformational leadership and sustainable innovation.
  • In addition, the program integrated an design thinking-based approach to solving sustainability challenges, which allowed TOWA to advance its decarbonization strategy, especially regarding scope 3 emissions.

This training approach aligned perfectly with the process of formulating the company's sustainability strategy, empowering its leaders to integrate sustainability into the organizational culture and ensuring effective execution of the strategy.

The Results

At an individual level: Participants experienced a shift in mindset, beginning to see sustainability as a core element of their roles. This change in focus allowed them to recognise how their everyday decisions influence the organisation's overall sustainability.

At an organisational level: TOWA now has a team of leaders who are more aware and sensitised to sustainability issues, which has been key to mobilising strategic projects. Furthermore, the training has had a multiplier effect, as participants are now able to influence their teams, fostering a more sustainable approach across the organisation.

Skills4Impact trainning has truly transformed our approach to sustainability. Our leaders now see it as a core part of their roles, influencing daily decisions and driving strategic projects. This mindset shift has cascaded throughout the organisation, empowering teams to adopt a more sustainable approach in their work.
